About the project

Access to clean drinking water has remained one of the most important social issues for residents of the Kurshab rural area for many years.

A drinking water supply project was previously launched with World Bank support on a credit basis. However, the planned works were not fully completed, leaving the issue of stable and comprehensive access to clean drinking water unresolved.

At present, KGS 152 million is planned to be provided from the national budget to complete the project. This funding will make it possible to finish the remaining works and create the necessary conditions for reliable drinking water supply throughout the Kurshab rural area.

Main objectives of the project

• fully resolve the drinking water supply issue in the Kurshab rural area;
• complete the unfinished works under the previously launched project;
• provide residents with safe and high-quality drinking water;
• ensure the sustainable operation of water pipelines and related infrastructure;
• improve sanitary and hygienic conditions;
• improve the overall quality of life of local residents.

Funding

The planned allocation from the national budget for completion of the project is:

KGS 152,000,000

This funding will provide an important opportunity to complete the remaining works and bring the drinking water supply system into full operation.

Expected results

Upon completion of the project:

• residents of the Kurshab rural area will have improved access to clean drinking water;
• the water supply system will be fully put into operation;
• access to safe drinking water will improve;
• sanitary and hygienic conditions will be enhanced;
• a long-standing social issue will receive a comprehensive solution;
• the engineering and social infrastructure of the rural area will improve.

Significance of the project

Access to clean drinking water is essential for public health and quality of life. Therefore, completion of this project is of major social and infrastructural importance for the Kurshab rural area.

Residents express their gratitude to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, for the attention given to Kurshab’s drinking water issue and for supporting the completion of the project.

The efforts of Kanybek Apbasov, Akim of Uzgen District, who has raised the issue with the relevant government authorities and worked toward its resolution, should also be acknowledged. Saktan Keldibaev, Head of Kurshab Ayil Okmotu, has likewise been actively working to address the drinking water problem and communicate residents’ concerns to the relevant authorities.

The completion of the project will create the necessary conditions for a stable and reliable supply of clean drinking water to the residents of the Kurshab rural area.
